I first created this site writing simple code with Notebook++. As I began to realize how just many artifacts we might have, I decided to redesign and rebuild the site from scratch. It looks very similar to the original, but it’s very different beneath the hood and should be able to handle our needs for future expansion.

…and while Betsy Haines was giving out the ATIGUN AWARD in 2020, under her watch as VP O&M, Alyeska suffered the greatest OSHA-DOL violation of record in Alaska’s history for placing workers at risk with “benzene exposure”, in Valdez. And today the Alyeska legal team is still contesting that $700000 fine. So then Alyeska hires Betsy back, when there came another “benzene” trap for the workers in Valdez, and maybe an atrocity on the citizens in Valdez, including kids on the kindergarten playground breathing in the cancer causing vapors let loose when snow caused the safety relief vents on the crude oil storage tanks to cave in. So maybe that ATIGUN AWARD should be repurposed, for the ATICUNT and for the Bill Cowitt fan club, for the guys maybe the ATIGUNT fits the Alyeska image today. Just a suggestion from Citizen Cane!

Larry, wherein does one find the Alyeska Preventive Maintenance condoms, the ones handed out by the 5th Floor of Bragaw? Like the used ones found in the manager’s office at Pump Station #5? It is estimated that due Alyeska forgetting how to use a snow shovel and allowing the SAFETY RELIEF VENTS on the 500000BBL crude oil storage tanks to cave in just last March, with 4-cubic feet/second “outgassing” that the damaged tanks would allow into the atmosphere – that which includes cancer causing benzene – there will be an abundane of premature deaths in Valdez! But that has been the case since 1977! Alyeska does not give a rat’s ass about the publics’ health.

Cancer risk was over 400 times higher than the Clean Air Act health goal at the East Gate monitoring site at the terminal. Additional testing at the terminal may be required to determine the current cancer risk for employees.

My best friend died of cancer!!! He worked in Valdez, this is a sad ending to that TAPS “History”! Maybe a gravestone artifact is in order to commemorate this atrocity. Why did the Alyeska executives hide it for so long, and then they lied. Why are they still hiding it? Said the VMT only contributed 1% of the 500-tons of “benzene” that was measured in Valdez, when it was more like 90%! Time for a class-action lawsuit, this is Round 2 of “Roundup”!
Note: Benzene is a known human carcinogen4 and has been shown to cause rare forms of leukemia
including acute myelogenous leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, and chronic myelogenous
leukemia. Breathing very high levels of benzene can result in death, while high levels can cause
drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headaches, tremor, confusion, and unconsciousness.

PWSRCAC’s review of the personal monitoring study concluded Alyeska’s Valdez Marine Terminal study was flawed,
and that their analysis showed that the terminal contributed to about 30-90% of the indoor
exposures and 30-60% of the personal exposure to benzene.
~ It was purposely “flawed” as that is the Alyeska ways and means to “KILL” the workers, KILL the worker’s spouses and KILL the workers’ little children! ~
PWSRCAC’s expert, Dr. Cohen, was concerned with the very high percentage of Alyeska’s missing data for
the one-year monitoring period at the Valdez Marine Terminal. He noted that EPA typically requires high quality CEMS
monitoring data to yield data for at least 75% of the operating time period. Alyeska’s CEMS data
was missing for an average of 40-49% of the data. The significance of the “missing” data is not
known, since it was not clear whether the missing data would have represented periods of high or
low emissions that would have changed the final average benzene estimate for each monitoring
site.

Alyeska is no different today then back in the 1980 and 1990s, the Alyeska executives did not give a rat’s ass about the health of the workers. Many high level managers were paid to act as so, like in threateneing to “throw an inspector” out of an airborne helicopter. Their “paycheck” was geared to that philosophy, and now they live with a lucrative retirement, as those of us that braved the pipeline work are dying, from way too much exposure – they knew all about it and did nothing! So what’s a few good men dead! See no matter what, Alyeska delivered over 18-billion barrels of oil in 45-years. It made the State of Alaska “rich” to the poing it can give away money to the residents. This year alone, a $3200 bonus and for those that have been around since oil started flowing south, like a $44000 welfare plan.
