United Way

The pin says, “I’m a Big Wheel” as Alyeska President George Nelson appeared in a wheel chair as he encouraged Alyeska employees to donate to the United Way.

A red United Way card that says “thanks for doing.” On the red card is a bright yellow metal pin that says “what matters.”

The annual United Way event was a very significant event at Alyeska and got much internal publicity.

The Anchor Club Captain pin was given to individuals who donated at certain level to the United Way. If I recall correctly, the amount was not a fixed sum but a sliding amount based on your pay level – those who earned a higher salary must donate more to receive the pin.  It has a standard brass “butterfly” pin clasp on the back.
